With Green Lantern: Rebirth, not only did Johns manage to accomplish just that as he brings Jordan back from the dead, he also ret-cons quite a bit of backstory while also re-establishing the Green Lantern Corps and the mythology that surrounds it, while also re-establishing Sinestro as one of the fiercest supervillains in all of the DC universe.
